this is from John's livejournal, all quite true and hilarious

This list was made in 2000, so some player names aren't valid anymore. (since the yanks trade players like kids trade baseball cards.)
From Yanks-Suck.com

10 RULES FOR BEING A YANKEE FAN

1. It's important to point out past post-season success as often as possible. However, if anyone points out anything in the past that doesn't reflect positively on the Yankees, then argue that it happened in the past and doesn't matter now. For example, it is okay to point out that the Yankees beat the Mariners in the 2000 ALCS. However, if anyone points out that the Mariners beat the Yankees in the 1995 ALDs, then argue that it happened in the past and doesn't matter.

2. Nothing in the regular season matters, unless it's favorable to the Yankees. For example, Roger Clemens is 16-1 this year, and has dominated. However, if anyone points out that the Mariners have beaten Clemens twice this year, respond by saying, "Regular Season doesn't mean crap". Regular Season wins and losses are especially irrelevant, unless you are the 1998 Yankees.

3. Statistics are for losers. Whenever someone posts a statistic that you find confusing, quickly point out that the Yankees have won 4 out of the last 5 World Series.

4. If anyone accuses the Yankees of "buying" their championships, argue that Jeter, B Williams, Pettitte, Soriano, Rivera, and Posada are all home-grown talent. Then, hope that nobody notices that this represents only 6 out of 25 players, and hope they don't bring up Clemens, Mussina, Hitchcock, Witasik, Wohlers, Stanton, Martinez, Sojo, Knoblauch, O'Neill, Brosius, Justice, Lilly and more. Also hope they don't mention the fact that Gerald Williams was recently acquired but never plays, much like Jose Canseco last year.

5. Whenever you argue with a Red Sox fan, always bring up 1918. This will infuriate them and while they type a response, you can point out that the Yankees have won 4 out of the last 5 championships. See Rule #1

6. Statistics and records are never as important as name recognition. Statistics should always be dismissed unless they are favorable to the Yankees. For example, Clemens is 16-1. That's a good statistic. Mussina is 12-10, but that doesn't matter because . Well-known names are always better than any statistic. If anyone argues with that, see Rule #2.

7. Defend Derek Jeter and Roger Clemens at all costs. Resort to name calling and threats of violence if necessary.

8. All other fans of all other teams are bandwagon fans. Nobody has a more loyal, more dedicated following than the Yankees. If a team is hot, or is playing well, call that team's fans bandwagoners. Then point out how many championships the Yankees have won. See Rule #1.

9. The Yankees are the Defending World Champions until baseball adopts a policy forbidding them to play in the post-season. Such a policy will never exist, because George Steinbrenner vehemently opposes anything that doesn't directly contribute to the success of the Yankees, so therefore, the Yankees will forever be the Defending World Champions. If another teams wins the championship, then it was because of . Refer to Rule #1.

10. The following traits should be avoided at all times: logic, humility, reason, and class. You are the World Champions. You should act like it and point it out at all times. See Rule #1.

then corey responded:

FIVE FACTS ABOUT THE METS AND THEIR FANS
By Yours Truly

1) Every year, the Mets' advertising slogan is "The New Mets: This is Our Year!" And, every year, the Mets are terrible and their fans get all excited for nothing.

2) Mets fans always complain about how much money the Yankees spend, even though the Mets had the third-highest payroll in 2005. And how far did that get them? They finished in fourth place in their division, barely ahead of the Washington Nationals (who, for all intents and purposes, are still the Montreal Expos).

3) The Mets need to have their lame mascot, Mr. Met (a guy with a baseball for a head), run out onto the field during games and shoot T-shirts into the upper decks in order to take the fans' attention away from the Mets' suckiness.

4) Mets fans will never admit that the Yankees are and always will be better, even though the Yankees have won 26 world championships and the Mets have won two. (And the Mets only won the 1986 World Series because of Bill Buckner's infamous blunder, so, for all intents and purposes, that doesn't really count.)

5) Kaz Matsui is a failure at everything he does. If the Mets organization had any brains at all, they would ship him to Japan and tell him to never come back.

now my turn: let me refresh the yankees fans memories.... take a trip back to 2004... ALDS up 3 game to none over Boston.... but what hapened? history was made when the Red Sox rattled off four games in a row in route to crushing the Yankees and going on to win the World Series. Disappointing? I think so. If i do recall correctly, u were all literally crying over them losing... like tears ran down your face. I may be the biggest Mets fan that some of u know, but i would never cry if they lost a game, becuase as a Mets fan i realize that there is always next year. Actually, you call the Mets bad, no other team has ever in the history of baseball lost a post season series when leading 3-0, congrats to all you Yankees fans, thats pretty impressive. Now to get to Corey's little speel. Maybe every year i say this years Mets team will be really good, this is the first year they've been advertised as "The New Mets". Mets fans do complain about how much the Yankees spend, we may be the 3rd highest payroll but we are still a good $40-50 million behind the Yankees. Lame mascot? Wheres your mascot? O wait, the can't make one becuase the civil war ended. Then Corey, u bring up past championships rule #1 my friend. But i do agree with u on #5, so hey, look Mets and Yankees fans can get along! So all u Yankees fans, go back to crying over losing and keep telling me that "O, the Yankees won 26 WS"... great, thats wonderful u keep celebrating the past because it seems to me they r having some difficulties winning it anymore. SO Corey, Tom, Kaufman and Perly, keep crying about the past, and keep telling me everything thats been stated in rules 1-10, courtesy of John. I enjoy it because then I get to laugh at all of u for being so high strung over the Yankees, and i love watching u all cry and bitch and i can just sit, laugh and rebuttle. Baseball.... America's pastime... i love baseball

congratulations on proving my point exactly and having the first thing said be the yankees past.... rule #1, good job though, it was a nice try

the year 2000 is a good memory

so if it's wrong to talk about the yankees past success..then is ur whole begginning statement wrong because u talked about the red sux winning in 2004...sorry buddy but its 2006, and the WHITE sox won last year...u just broke rule #1 by bragging about the past

Anonymous

March 4 2006, 18:53:54 UTC 6 years ago

o, sorry buddy, all i did was bring up a historical event, and um it wasnt bragging it was stating a fact. sorry that i hit a nerve with it, i know it was a crushing loss and very heart wrenching. I didnt break the rules, a team wins the world series every single year.... but only once in the history of baseball has a team come back from a 3 game to none defecit in the playoffs and still end up winning that series.

March 4 2006, 18:58:32 UTC 6 years ago

at least the yanks made it to the playoffs....THE YEAR 2000!!!!! REMEMBER!!

Anonymous

March 4 2006, 19:09:47 UTC 6 years ago

all ur doing is talking about a past victory... ruls #1. plus that was then, i do believe that last year the Mets and Yankees split the regular season match-up 3-3.... and i do remember 2000... but its in the past so who cares? o wait it benefits the yankees we should all care, i forgot the rules...

Anonymous

March 4 2006, 19:28:29 UTC 6 years ago

so if 2000 was the past..then how isnt 2004 the past as well..its funny with you mets fans...when someone insults the mets, you automatically bring up the red sox beating the yankees in 2004 because you are insecure about being a mets fan...you know that you cant just come up with something to say to a yankees fan about the mets that makes them look good, because the mets dont have any recent accomplishments. at least being a yankees fan, i know i am loyal to one team, and i dont have to have backup teams aka the red sox to brag about..UR a mets fan, not a red sox fan..so start listing some mets accomplishments in RECENT year, then you will make sense.....2000

Anonymous

March 4 2006, 19:44:13 UTC 6 years ago

the red sox beating the yankees in 2004 is the most disgraceful thing ever, anybody that wants to bash the yankees happens to bring that up. how am i insecure about ebing a mets fan? i wear mets apparel every single day. the only thing differing from the mets and yankees is that the yankees have made the playoffs in recent years. looking at it, the yankees r on a decline and the mets on an incline, the mets have improved the last 3 years, the yankees have not. they lost in the WS in 2003, then the ALCS in 2004 and then the ALDS in 2005. and dont even talk about loyalty, i dont root for the red sox, i am a yankees fan, quite frankly the red sox fans r no better then u fucking yankee fans, the only difference is i like the red sox because they beat the yankees. im not bragging about the red sox, all u yankees fans say to cover up the yankees blunders in the post season is that "o, well ummm the mets werent even in the playoffs". as a true mets fan i can accept improvement every season rather then play off appearances. the mets have improved the last 3 years, the yankees have not. ah yes, 2000.... in every single one of ur comments u bring up the past yankee wins. this is like trying to argue with a bunch of rocks, shit my dogs make better arguments then u guys do

Since Flanny says we're not allowed to talk about the past, let's talk about the future: the Yankees are going to be World Series champions, and the Mets are going to lose their division to the ATLANTA BRAVES for the 16th consecutive season.

Anonymous

March 4 2006, 21:12:56 UTC 6 years ago

wow

id just like to point out that the post means nothing... plus all people can do is talk about the past, thats all we know, the future is only a prediction, i want the yanks to win this year, but that doesnt mean they will (but we all know they will). mets say they will win every year, but history always repeats itself by having them fail.
prediction each year: mets will win this time
fact: they think that but never do.

btw...
kaz matsui, pedro, beltran, wagner, zambrano, floyd
just to name a few mets that were BOUGHT (omg!!!!!) like u always exclame about the yankees.

btw: kaz FLOP beltran FLOP wagner THE NEXT LOOPER

YANKEES 27 in 06 WOOOOOOOOOOOO

Re: wow

u say the Mets fail, but then so do the Yankees, i havnt seen them win in awhile, yeah 2000, we were 10 then. and um dude, only pedro, wagner and beltran were bought... matsui was drafted, zambrano was a trade and so was floyd. kaz was a flop, he blows, im not gonna lie. u cant say beltrans a flop, hes played 1 year in NY, the toughest place to play and suffered a tramatic injury. he still has 6 years of contract left. and u know dam well that wagner will not be the next looper, shit i'd rather have wagner on my team then rivera (not saying rivera is bad). I can not wait until the end of this season comes, the Yankees fail again and u all cry and i get to sit and laugh at all of u, whether or not the mets win or lose, make the playoffs or dont. see i can always wait until next year, patience is a virtue, u yankee fans wouldnt know that, hence y u all always bitch and cry about losing 1 year. so what if ur diappointed they lost, suck it up and wait for next year. as soon as the yankees lose u know that every single one of them goes and hits the golf course. I really need another Mets fan to help me refute all these ridiculous arguments.....

Arod switched over to play in NY and look what hes done.....MVP!!!! beltran didnt have a tramatic injury, mike cameron did..so no excuses for him absolutley sucking, i mean cmon- Bernie had better stats than beltrn last year, and you mets fans will be crying when we sweep ur asses twice this year..!!!
comparisons:

Mo vs. Wagner- edge Yankees
Arod(MVP) vs. Wright- edge Yankees
Cano Vs. Kaz Shatsui- edge yankees
Giambi(comeback player of year) vs. Delgado- =
Posada(12 HR) vs. Lo Duca(4 HR)- edge yankees
Sheff Vs. Floyd- =
Damon vs. Beltran- easily yankees
Jeter Vs. Reyes- yankees (although reyes is rising)
Matsui vs. Nady- cmon, do i need to say who wins this

SO AS U CAN SEE, THE YANKEES EDGE THE METS IN EVERY POSITION...METS SUCKS BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous

March 5 2006, 08:35:23 UTC 6 years ago

im nto even giong to bother arguing with u on starting position players b/c u obviously dont look deeply into stats, but thats fine. what i will say is look at the pitching staffs.... glavine turned it on at the end of he season, pedro had 15 wins, and lost at least 5 w/o any run support, now he has run support. heilman is just filthy. trachsel is coming back off his shoulder injury and has always been a solid starter. compared to all the yankees injuries, and talk about flops, jaret wright, wow was he a good pick up! and carl pavano! outstanding! from here out only time will tell which team will be better.

Anonymous

March 5 2006, 11:57:07 UTC 6 years ago

flanny

you cant actually consider heilman nasty please

btw i dont know who did the comparasins that wasnt me

thats right, only time will tell...and like usual, the bronx will own Queens!!!! u may have slightly better pitchers, but our lineup is amazing compared to ur lineup!! -2000

spring training doesnt really matter.....u can tell because the red sox and yankees are winless so far..but the mets just lost 18-2 to the dodgers, just wanted to share that info, thought it was funny

yankees 26
mets 2

Anonymous

March 5 2006, 14:38:48 UTC 6 years ago

you just said that spring training doesn't matter and yet you bring up the mets losing all you all ever talk about is the year 2000 and how the mets only have 2 world championships compared to the yankees 26, its all in the past, rule #1

What the hell guys?

Now I am a die hard Yankees fan. But come on, you guys are giving Yankee fans a terrible name. It's OK to say that the Mets have good players because they do. I agree that the Yanks don't have the edge in EVERY SINGLE POSITION. That's crap to say that. Just acknowledge that Beltran and Wright and others are good ballplayers. You can be a die hard Yankee fan without being completely ignorant. Oh, and just post your name after the comment, please.

P.S. I lost all respect for whoever said that Billy Wagner is the next Braden Looper. You're out of your fuckin' mind.
