this is from John's livejournal, all quite true and hilarious

This list was made in 2000, so some player names aren't valid anymore. (since the yanks trade players like kids trade baseball cards.)

10 RULES FOR BEING A YANKEE FAN

    1. It's important to point out past post-season success as often as possible. However, if anyone points out anything in the past that doesn't reflect positively on the Yankees, then argue that it happened in the past and doesn't matter now. For example, it is okay to point out that the Yankees beat the Mariners in the 2000 ALCS. However, if anyone points out that the Mariners beat the Yankees in the 1995 ALDs, then argue that it happened in the past and doesn't matter.

    2. Nothing in the regular season matters, unless it's favorable to the Yankees. For example, Roger Clemens is 16-1 this year, and has dominated. However, if anyone points out that the Mariners have beaten Clemens twice this year, respond by saying, "Regular Season doesn't mean crap". Regular Season wins and losses are especially irrelevant, unless you are the 1998 Yankees.

    3. Statistics are for losers. Whenever someone posts a statistic that you find confusing, quickly point out that the Yankees have won 4 out of the last 5 World Series.

    4. If anyone accuses the Yankees of "buying" their championships, argue that Jeter, B Williams, Pettitte, Soriano, Rivera, and Posada are all home-grown talent. Then, hope that nobody notices that this represents only 6 out of 25 players, and hope they don't bring up Clemens, Mussina, Hitchcock, Witasik, Wohlers, Stanton, Martinez, Sojo, Knoblauch, O'Neill, Brosius, Justice, Lilly and more. Also hope they don't mention the fact that Gerald Williams was recently acquired but never plays, much like Jose Canseco last year.

    5. Whenever you argue with a Red Sox fan, always bring up 1918. This will infuriate them and while they type a response, you can point out that the Yankees have won 4 out of the last 5 championships. See Rule #1

    6. Statistics and records are never as important as name recognition. Statistics should always be dismissed unless they are favorable to the Yankees. For example, Clemens is 16-1. That's a good statistic. Mussina is 12-10, but that doesn't matter because . Well-known names are always better than any statistic. If anyone argues with that, see Rule #2.

    7. Defend Derek Jeter and Roger Clemens at all costs. Resort to name calling and threats of violence if necessary.

    8. All other fans of all other teams are bandwagon fans. Nobody has a more loyal, more dedicated following than the Yankees. If a team is hot, or is playing well, call that team's fans bandwagoners. Then point out how many championships the Yankees have won. See Rule #1.

    9. The Yankees are the Defending World Champions until baseball adopts a policy forbidding them to play in the post-season. Such a policy will never exist, because George Steinbrenner vehemently opposes anything that doesn't directly contribute to the success of the Yankees, so therefore, the Yankees will forever be the Defending World Champions. If another teams wins the championship, then it was because of . Refer to Rule #1.

    10. The following traits should be avoided at all times: logic, humility, reason, and class. You are the World Champions. You should act like it and point it out at all times. See Rule #1.

    then corey responded:

FIVE FACTS ABOUT THE METS AND THEIR FANS
    By Yours Truly

    1) Every year, the Mets' advertising slogan is "The New Mets: This is Our Year!" And, every year, the Mets are terrible and their fans get all excited for nothing.

    2) Mets fans always complain about how much money the Yankees spend, even though the Mets had the third-highest payroll in 2005. And how far did that get them? They finished in fourth place in their division, barely ahead of the Washington Nationals (who, for all intents and purposes, are still the Montreal Expos).

    3) The Mets need to have their lame mascot, Mr. Met (a guy with a baseball for a head), run out onto the field during games and shoot T-shirts into the upper decks in order to take the fans' attention away from the Mets' suckiness.

    4) Mets fans will never admit that the Yankees are and always will be better, even though the Yankees have won 26 world championships and the Mets have won two. (And the Mets only won the 1986 World Series because of Bill Buckner's infamous blunder, so, for all intents and purposes, that doesn't really count.)

    5) Kaz Matsui is a failure at everything he does. If the Mets organization had any brains at all, they would ship him to Japan and tell him to never come back.

now my turn: let me refresh the yankees fans memories.... take a trip back to 2004... ALDS up 3 game to none over Boston.... but what hapened? history was made when the Red Sox rattled off four games in a row in route to crushing the Yankees and going on to win the World Series. Disappointing? I think so. If i do recall correctly, u were all literally crying over them losing... like tears ran down your face. I may be the biggest Mets fan that some of u know, but i would never cry if they lost a game, becuase as a Mets fan i realize that there is always next year. Actually, you call the Mets bad, no other team has ever in the history of baseball lost a post season series when leading 3-0, congrats to all you Yankees fans, thats pretty impressive. Now to get to Corey's little speel. Maybe every year i say this years Mets team will be really good, this is the first year they've been advertised as "The New Mets". Mets fans do complain about how much the Yankees spend, we may be the 3rd highest payroll but we are still a good $40-50 million behind the Yankees. Lame mascot? Wheres your mascot? O wait, the can't make one becuase the civil war ended. Then Corey, u bring up past championships rule #1 my friend. But i do agree with u on #5, so hey, look Mets and Yankees fans can get along! So all u Yankees fans, go back to crying over losing and keep telling me that "O, the Yankees won 26 WS"... great, thats wonderful u keep celebrating the past because it seems to me they r having some difficulties winning it anymore. SO Corey, Tom, Kaufman and Perly, keep crying about the past, and keep telling me everything thats been stated in rules 1-10, courtesy of John. I enjoy it because then I get to laugh at all of u for being so high strung over the Yankees, and i love watching u all cry and bitch and i can just sit, laugh and rebuttle. Baseball.... America's pastime... i love baseball

    memory lane...
well, i took a look back at all 20 of my posts to see what people commented onthe most. the results r interesting i guess....
coming in at #5 was a tie:
two normal posts somehow racked up 9 comments each, nothing special
    at #4:
another tie but il give 4th to a post that was about absolutely nothing that still brought in 11 comments, the comments were more interesting then the post itself
    at #3:
also with 11 comments was some good old fashion yankee bashing
    #2:
u guessed it, yankee bashing... it was the first post i made, and of course it bashed those gd yankees
    and coming in at #1:
an unforseen winner was my post about taking naps.... we r all such losers to put our most interest in napping, it brough in 17 comments, and i still love to take naps

(in case u couldnt tell im really bored right now and our break is almost over which sucks)

    ill update eventually

    Boo!!!
that superbowl was HORRENDOUS. aside from anquan randle el's TD pass the game stunk. every year seattle always finds a way to lose, this time it just happened to be in the super bowl. corey, sorry i didnt have kids over, i went out instead, maybe next year. well, now that football season is over, and baseball season still 2 months away,we have now entered the "sports suck" period where the viewer can either watch hockey, or basketball, what joy. college basketball is fun to watch, but that tournament doesnt start until march (Gonzaga all the way). nothing else is really going on in my life, school sucks as usual, its now coming time to really get ready for baseball season (not like i already havnt been preparing enough, talk to my gf about that one)and our rec basketball eam is 4-2 and we will ultimately win the championship b/c i need to repeat from last year. well now i leave, not knowing when ill ever update this thing....

    hahaha.....eh.....o shit
so today we had family dinner, that is me my parents, brother and cousin. and at the end of dinner they all started to critisize my hair. well, things quickly spiraled out of control. my mom, who i thought was just being funny, said she would pay me $100 dollars if i let her shave my head. i quickly repsonded using my poker instincts trying to call her bluff. well folks, she did not bluff. she got up from the table, went into a backroom and came back with a razor and scissors. what insued was, at first, hilarity. well, instead of my mom shaving my head, my dad started shaving my head, mistake #2. (mistake #1 was not telling my gf). after about 10 minutes of him shaving my head, he screwed up.... and i mean majorly. so they handed off the razor to my brother who luckily helped greatly and fixd it..... for the most part. well after about 30 minutes of sitting outside being laughed at and freaking out, it was done.... and thats when mistake #3 comes, i actually let my family cut my hair. what did i find out tonight? money isnt worth jack, this is something u will all laugh about for the rest of high school.... but it will grow back, with vengance.

    whats new??
....not much. we havnt done much of anything, break ended way too soon. school sucks so much, every class has given a ridiculous amount of work + we have midterms/ english regents coming up. aside from school work i am doing baseball related activities about 5-6 times a week, although that is most of the time enjoyable. speaking of sports we had out first rec basketball game today.... and lost, 34-30m, i put up a meager 5 points. we shouldve won, but shit happens, we'll win 2morrow and the rest of the games. well now its off to watch some football play-offs, i called the redskins, now its patriots, panthers and bengals. until the next time....

    Mets in 2006.... or '2016?
So as most of you out there know the mets sadly have to let the brilliant catcher Mike Piazza go due to the the fact that he can't catch anymore. As many of you also know, last year a certain 1st baseman said he would rather play for "A ballclub that is going to be more compettve and win more baseball games". that someone was Carlos Delgado upon signing with the Marlins over the Mets last off season. Now the Mets decide... let's throw away our best pitching prospect(Yushemiero Petit) and an outstanding young hitter in Mike Jacobs, for Delgado... the man who wouldn't play for us last year. Don't get me wrong, Delgado is a potent bat to have in the line-up and hopefully will be a great asset next year, but i have a feeling this trade might end up a little like the Zambrano- Kazmir trade. The Mets are looking at only winning this year... in 2006. Pedro Martinez, as dominate as he has been in the past is starting to feel wear-and-tear on his arm and won't be able to put up big numbers in the next couple of years as he has in the past few years. This means that with an aging Pedro.... and an aging rest of the starting rotation for the Mets, they must win this year or none at all. Delgado as good as he is, and has been in the past is 33 years old and won't last much longer. Floyd is getting old, and the bull-pen is still WEAK, pending the Billy Wagner deal. Reyes, Wright, and Beltran are set in stone for the Mets the next few years, and Milledge will come out of AAA eventually, unless the Mets decide they really only want to win in 2006 and trade him for another elderly player who has been very good in the past, but is "running out of gas" and won't last much longer in the majors. All in all the Mets are looking to be a highly competitve baseball team for next year.... and next year only, if they don't win the world series this yeah, 2006, they won't come close for awhile after that.

    step it up!
so we played football last friday..... and my team dominated. nat, in his own words, "didnt do his job" and he fell in not so dramatic fashion to my team in what was a semi- chaotic, but still enjoyable, friday afternoon football game. saturday i decided to relax, and of course my dad decided to flip out on me for it, o well. sunday we played poker at phils... and of course phil won, but at least i got 2nd. thanksgiving is coming up in 3 days, and i highly suggest EVERYONE listen to Alice's Restraunt on the radio, i think it is on every other hour or something like that... and it won't be on any of the stations that play new music, so u gotta look for it, but if u find it it is hilarious. thats all i have for u avid readers out there.... all 4 of u

ok, it's time for a new update considering wars r being waged in the comments of my last entry. We played poker on friday... and i won, hence the subject(title) of this entry. i started this weekend with $90 in my wallet, now i have about 40.... o well it was worth it, i got two meals and a movie out of it. the movie was the legend of zorro, it was a good follow up of the 1st one, but i am no critic so u judge for urself. on sunday we finally played football again. it was a nice 4-4 game that lasted a whopping hour thanks to a bunch of 9 year olds who just had to play soccer on that specific field. o well, i guess john is planning a game for friday or something, talk to him about it i have no idea. all-in-all a good weekend, a few minor setbacks, but nothing unmanagable, so until next time this is me "signing out"

    stop the spamming....
im really updating so u guys have a new space to "reply" to so that one entry doesnt have 30 replies. but while i'm at it, the white sox swept houston to win the world series, although no one cares besides the chicago fans... don't let them know i said that. also i am trying to host a big poker game Vet's Day (Nov. 11th) so let me know if u r interested in playing. in other sports news, the hets officially suck, and eli manning will never be as good as peyton manning..... ever. i will admit that eli is better then vinny, then again who isnt? o well, looks like i just have to wait until baseball season rolls around and the mets win the NL east and finally end the braves streak. this is where i become unsure of who i hate more.... the braves or the yankees.... prob the yankees b/c i have to put up w/ so much shit from the fans of theres wher at least with the brave i can just despise them winning the NL east every year. this post ended up being a lot longer then i thought it would be, and will probably end up with many comments about my yankees/ giants bashing, can't wait
